My second comment didn't post apparently and I can't remember what all I went on and on about. But yep, lei (singular and plural although we always add the 's when not thinking about the proper usage) are not just given then, but at celebrations--birthdays, weddings, deaths, graduations. Anything you can think of. Speaking of which I'm going to Costco today to buy two and put them on a grave.

Thank you for watching. I'm glad you like the photos I mixed into the video. Just so you know - all of the beach pictures - were of actual beaches on Oahu. I almost can't believe my eyes when I see beaches that look like the ones in the photos - but they are real! Oahu has some absolutely amazing beaches. Aaaaaaah (I'm picturing myself there now).

Thanks for watching. Well, more people Yield to Pedestrians in Hawaii than they do in Milwaukee and Chicago (come here and prepare to get run over). You are right, not everyone who arrives in Hawaii gets a Lei. I was just lucky enough to receive Lei's (from locals that I was visiting) upon arrival on both of my visits. When I live in Hawaii - I will be sure to and proud to be able to give Lei's and Kisses to anyone who comes to visit me on the island. Lei giving is such a lovely tradition

This is almost funny: "People in Hawaii Yield to Pedestrians". I've almost always yielded to pedestrians (hello? Car vs. auto accidents are NOT something good to see), but last year there were so many people hit in and out of crosswalks, it was almost epidemic!!You had a great list of reasons, so I get it. The aloha spirit is something I *really* miss when I am away from home. You should say that not everyone gets lei when they arrive, just the ones that pay for a tour and that's included, or |
